Now in its 24th year, Leadership Flagler is a program that nurtures and engages leadership skills of potential and current community leaders. The three-month program seeks to deepen understanding of Flagler County, its issues and opportunities, and encourages participants to take active roles as stewards of and advocates for positive change within the community.
Twenty candidates representing Flagler County’s diverse business community are selected each year through a competitive selection process. An alumni council of Leadership Flagler graduates oversees the program, selects participants and develops curriculum. Tuition for each participant in Leadership Flagler is $350 for Chamber members, and $500 for future members.
Starting the first week of February, classes met Wednesday mornings from 8:30am until noon with sessions on
business, government, health and human services, art and culture, education, agriculture and growth management. Class members were expected to comply with the program’s attendance policy and to complete a community service project prior to graduation.
Leadership Flagler is one of nearly 700 programs nationwide devoted to shaping high-profile community leaders. Since its start in 1993, Leadership Flagler has graduated more than 210 professionals.
